Basic information

How to prepare a file

Here you will learn everything

  • Please name your files according to the entries. Please add date and company name in the file name (e.g. zetony_companyname_23042021)

  • Please do not use special characters in file names (ą, ś, ź, *, {, ).

  • Design must be submitted in 1:1 scale and page dimensions must be identical for all pages

  • We do not recommend converting fonts to bitmap, as this may result in quality degradation

  • Bitmap graphics should have a resolution of 300

  • Enhancements such as UV varnish, embossing, die-cuts must be defined as an additional colour with overprint and must be vector objects. Alternatively, they may be prepared on a separate page (where page 1 is the design for printing, and page 2 is the finishing) in 100%K colour

  • The minimum line thickness for printing is 0.2

  • Project must have correctly defined Trimbox and Bleedbox and be centred in relation to them

  • Files must be prepared in CMYK colour space

  • ICC profiles: COATED FOGRA 39 (ISO 12647-2:2004)

  • Additional Pantone colours should be saved as a fifth colour (spot)

  • Maximum dye penetration 280 – 300%.

  • Deep black: C30% M30% Y30% K100%.

  • Small black graphics and text should be defined as 100%K and have the attribute

  • Coloured text and white text should be saved without

  • Thin lines, less than 0.75 pt, should be defined as one to avoid inaccuracies due to matching in the offset printing process.

  • Printing colour tolerance is 5%.

  • The barcode and QR code should be in a vector file, colour 100%K, placed on a white background

  • Before uploading your files, you should request a die-cutting grid for your particular

  • All elements should be placed under the correct grid according to the instructions in the grid file

  • Die-cutters must be defined as an additional colour (spot) 100%, must have a given overprint attribute and must be objects

  • Graphics should be prepared with 5mm bleed

  • Key graphic elements, symbols and texts should be positioned at least 5mm from the die-cutting line

  • PDF files can be submitted electronically (FTP, e-mail, link to the “cloud” )

  • Please send all materials as a final closed file (we prefer PDF)

  • Perform a preliminary inspection of the file (Preflight – Adobe Acrobat PRO);

  • Check the colour separations of the file (Output Preview – Adobe Acrobat PRO);

  • Check overprints (Overprint);

  • Check that the bleed of all elements has been generated correctly;

  • Check the central position of the project in relation to the Trimbox;

  • Check the content of the work, any display errors, typos, hanging conjunctions, correct orientation of obverses and reverses.

Files submitted for checking should always be viewed with print preview option turned on (Adobe Acrobat / Reader – Ctrl + K -> Page Display -> Print Preview -> Always).

In the submitted files it is necessary to check the colours (CMYK and Pantone colours), the format of applications, the contents (texts and other objects), the correctness of the overprint display (especially white and black 100%K).

We verify customer files in many respects and make every effort to notify the customer of errors, but customer claims for products where defects are due to poor preparation of files for production will not be accepted.

BLEED AND SAFETY MARGIN

  • The outer bleed should be 5mm. The safety margin, or internal bleed, should also be 5mm. These areas are very important, which is why they are also included in the guidance files provided for the overlapping of the designs in relation to the individual die-cutters.
  • Frames should occupy an area of 5mm from the knife line into the design (the whole design should be within the safety margin).
  • Important elements, such as logos, texts, etc., should be placed 5mm from the die cutter grid in the working area.
